Study shows hospitals underestimate cost of EHR

Do you know the full cost of chiropractic EHR?

There is no denying that EHR adoption can be costly. However, the benefits of the best chiropractic EHR more than outweigh the initial time and capital devoted to implementation. Even so, medical practitioners must have an accurate sense of the full cost of  the initial expenses to avoid any disruption in their bookkeeping and quality of care.

According to a new report covered by Medical News Today, many hospitals in the United Kingdom underestimate key areas of expense and investment when transitioning to EHR. The research was initially published online by the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association.

"[The researchers] identified four overarching cost categories associated with implementing an EHR system: infrastructure (such as hardware and software); personnel (such as a project managers and training teams); estates/facilities (furniture, fittings and space); other (such as training materials)," the news outlet states. "Out of the four main categories of associated expenditure identified, hospitals were most likely to cut back on training and implementation costs."

These findings do not bode well, particularly because the success of any chiropractic EHR software hinges on how effectively it is implemented and how well medical practitioners are trained. Without these essential elements, practices will undoubtedly encounter major barriers in full-scale adoption, including a reluctance to maintain EHR files and an inability to take advantage of their time-saving benefits.

Cutting corners on training simply isn't an option in any successful EHR implementation plan. That's why you need a chiropractic EMR provider that prioritizes this aspect of their service and will provide post-sale technical support as you adapt to your new system. Though the initial time and money you spend on this process may be more substantial, you will ultimately save yourself plenty of headaches by investing early.
