It seems that every day a new study comes out in favor of cloud technology and its many benefits. Web-based EHR software seems to boast lowered prices as its biggest advantage, but it also includes the potential to ease chiropractic workflow by streamlining care and documentation, such as SOAP notes.

Cloud technology offers gains for a variety of different industries. On May 21, the Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF) – a nonprofit research provider of key financial issues – and cloud financial management company Intacct released a new research report on cloud technology titled "Building the Business Case for Cloud Computing."

This study focused on the interviews and responses from a number of chief financial officers from a variety of different backgrounds. This report was announced at the 2012 Financial Executives International Leadership Summit.

"William Sinnett, senior director of research for FERF, conducted a series of interviews with CFOs and included their commentary and profiles on their use of cloud computing in the report," a press release provided by Intacct stated.

The report indicates that eliminating costs as well as an extra IT team were key in choosing a cloud-based system over an in-site arrangement. Also, CFOs preferred to gain better access to data. This can relate nicely to chiropractors who also need to view patient data while at home or traveling. Web-based EHR software enables medical professionals to view such information when away from the office.

CFOs also approved of the ability to streamline data through cloud computing, as well as automate financial accounting processes. Cloud technology also enables chiropractors to streamline documentation and enhance healthcare.

While CFOs enjoyed the benefits of lower hardware and software costs, medical professionals such as chiropractors can also take advantage of web-based EHR software that is easy to install and does not require an investment in hardware.
